Trading
We combine our expertise in marketing, logistics, financing, risk management, and compliance with the knowledge we've gained from building sustainable relationships with our suppliers and customers. This foundation allows us to identify and take advantage of arbitrage opportunities in the global commodities market.
These opportunities can be geographical, meaning we can use our relationships and logistical capabilities to source physical commodities and deliver them to locations where they command higher prices.
They can also be product-based, where we blend or combine multi-use petroleum products to create added value products that command higher returns than their individual parts.
Finally, they can be time-related, where we use our storage assets, financial skills, and cost controls to create and realize margins on agreed forward prices.
Risk Management
Commodity trading and physical supply involve financial, operational, and market risks that cannot be completely avoided, but can be anticipated and managed. PraVI Trade has established advanced risk management systems, processes, and controls.
Risk policies are centrally determined, exposures are assessed on a daily basis, and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated.
To minimize overall exposure at any given time, PraVI Trade employs a variety of risk management tools. These include financial derivative instruments to hedge against commodity price and foreign currency exchange rate risks, insurance to hedge against various operational risks such as freight-related and political risks, due diligence before and after acquisition to hedge against environmental risks, ready access to sufficient capital and funding to hedge against liquidity risk, and strict policies and procedures to hedge against counterparty relationships, fraud, and regulatory risks.
